The Brief: Combine natural materials for fun and friends.

The clients wished for a safe natural interactive environment for themselves and their young children.

The client inherited an extremely dangerous and unusable space. The first task was to brighten up the exterior of the house. This was achieved with the clever use of lime render to disguise the drab bricks. Once painted the property took on a whole new look, more modern and continental.

Hardwood decking is used to construct large flat spaces, whilst a smaller raised deck area is designed for adult entertaining. The stainless steel wall hides an ugly outbuilding and reflects the graceful nature of the black bamboos in the island bed. Discreet lighting sets the steel alight in the evening, giving the appearance of a Mediterranean sunset.

Striking planting contrasts the straight lines of the decking, each plant making a bold statement. The Italian stainless steel lights are statuesque in their beauty and add to the garden both day and night.

The walkover water feature attracts both children and adults alike, pressure pads set off the waterspouts for that extra special surprise and hours of safe fun for the children when they are not running around the raised lawn area or the soft play area which is partially screened from the main garden with decorative lattice work.
