The Brief: Contemporary meets traditional. This new build property was sympathetically constructed with a traditional feel, thus the clients wished to combine both styles within the garden.
The Natural Stone paving across the rear of the house offers numerous scope for entertaining, the patio is large enough so that one group may be chatting in one section whilst around the corner you could relax and read a book without being disturbed. The patio can be accessed by any of the three doors leading out from the house, thus acting as a true extension to the home.
The initial slope of the garden has been removed with clever use of retaining walls that curve around the garden to create distinct level changes adding further interest to the garden.
The Oak pergola leads to a contemporary hardwood decked area surrounded by a running water rill with stepping pads set within to allow access to the inner area from the crushed glass path. Stunning rustling Bamboo plants add to the seclusion of this area, creating a garden within a garden whilst under water lights illuminate the garden in the evenings.
Sympathetic planting, scented close to the seating areas, with a combination of evergreen shrubs and herbaceous plants softens the hard landscaping and ties the whole design together.
